Public service and working for the greater good are foundational to her being.&nbsp;Shannon has lived in Amherst for over two decades with her husband, Tom Silvia. Together they raised four children while building strong roots in the Souhegan Valley.Representing the people of her district in the legislature has been one of the greatest honors of Shannon’s life.&nbsp;During her time in the House, Shannon held key leadership roles, including Chair of the Committee on Resources, Recreation, and Development, where she worked with colleagues from both parties to protect New Hampshire’s natural resources and strengthen local communities. She also served as Ranking Member on the Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety. In the State Senate, Shannon served on the Judiciary, Health and Human Services, Executive Departments and Administration, and Commerce committees, as well as the Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules, in addition to appointments on various statutory and study committees and commissions. Throughout her legislative service, Shannon has focused on transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. In this multi-part series, we will discuss several facets of campaigning, such as the science behind campaigns, how to build a winning coalition, and how to engage with voters. The Spring Boot Camp will be held across three sessions during the month of May. Come to any or all the sessions!

Shannon believes that there is an undeniable link between strong public schools and building a strong economy. She opposes any attempt to spend your hard earned tax dollars on private and religious schools. As a mother of four, Shannon knows the costs related to college education and that we must take action to make affordable, high quality education available to Granite Staters. She also believes we must do more to invest in career and technical training and community colleges since a four year education is not the only path to a successful career.

Shannon knows that if our community isn't safe, nothing else really matters. That's why she will always ensure those on the front lines combatting the opioid crisis have the tools they need and those battling addiction and substance misuse have access to quality healthcare. &nbsp;
