Public service and working for the greater good are foundational to her being.&nbsp;</p><p>Shannon has lived in Amherst for over two decades with her husband, Tom Silvia. Together they raised four children while building strong roots in the Souhegan Valley.</p><p>Representing the people of her district in the legislature has been one of the greatest honors of Shannon’s life.&nbsp;During her time in the House, Shannon held key leadership roles, including Chair of the Committee on Resources, Recreation, and Development, where she worked with colleagues from both parties to protect New Hampshire’s natural resources and strengthen local communities. She also served as Ranking Member on the Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety. In the State Senate, Shannon served on the Judiciary, Health and Human Services, Executive Departments and Administration, and Commerce committees, as well as the Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules, in addition to appointments on various statutory and study committees and commissions.<br><br>Throughout her legislative service, Shannon has focused on transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. She has worked to ensure that government decisions are made openly and that the people of New Hampshire have a clear understanding of how public resources are being used.</p><span class="image image-framed image-right image-tilt-left" style="width: 40%;"><span class="image-inner-wrapper"><img src="https://run.imgix.net/03fec64d-93c0-43d9-848a-59e0443e790a/278387bb-38a8-48fc-8604-ec671f5694f9/278387bb-38a8-48fc-8604-ec671f5694f9.jpg?ixlib=js-3.8.0&amp;bri=0&amp;con=0&amp;sat=0&amp;high=0&amp;shad=0&amp;usm=0&amp;rect=0%2C0%2C2448%2C3264&amp;w=1500" alt="" caption="" align="right" alignwidth="40" tiltdirection="left" variant="framed"></span><span class="caption" style="display: none;"></span></span><p>Shannon’s commitment to community service has included past roles on the Amherst Town Ways and Means Committee, SHARE Outreach, the Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains, and the Souhegan Valley Quilters Guild.</p><p>Through her work in the legislature and in the community, Shannon remains focused on strengthening New Hampshire’s tradition of practical problem-solving, civil discourse and service to others.&nbsp;</p><p></p>

<p>Shannon believes that there is an undeniable link between strong public schools and building a strong economy. She <strong>opposes any attempt to spend your hard earned tax dollars on private and religious schools.</strong> As a mother of four, Shannon knows the costs related to college education and that we must take action to make affordable, high quality education available to Granite Staters. She also believes we must do more to<strong> invest in career and technical training and community colleges</strong> since a four year education is not the only path to a successful career.</p>
